Nancy Cheryll Davis-Bellamy is the Founding Artistic Director and Producing Director of Towne Street Theatre, Los Angeles' Premiere African-American Theatre. A graduate of the American Conservatory Theatre Professional Training Program, she received the 1997 Hollywood NAACP Best Actress Image Award For Theatre and was a Woodies Best Actress Nominee for her work at the St. Louis Black Repertory Theatre.
Ms. Davis-Bellamy recently participated as a shadow director in the ABC Talent Development Program Multi-Cultural Talent Showcase. She is also an Alumni of Lincoln Center Director's Lab West 2003. Her work as a director and/or producer in theatre includes Five on The Black Hand Side by Charlie Russell, Joleta by Harriet Dickey, Passing by Sheri Bailey and Millennium in Black by Harriet Dickey at the Towne Street Theatre, Summers in Suffolk by Sheri Bailey at the Towne Street Theatre, Old Dominion University and the Wilder Center for the Performing Arts, L.A. Hair Story by Hallie Hobson at the Cornerstone Theatre and Skinny Little Girl in a Fat Ass World by Anita Taylor at the Robey Theatre Company.
Ms. Davis-Bellamy's acting credits in film include Menace II Society (The Hughes Brothers), Hollywood Shuffle (Robert Townsend), The Court Martial Of Jackie Robinson (Larry Peerce), The Five Heartbeats (Robert Townsend), I'm Gonna Git You Sucka! (Keenan Ivory Wayans) and The Late Shift (Betty Thomas). Her acting credits in Television include The Young and the Restless, Baby Boom, Santa Barbara, Webster and The Robert Townsend Special. Her acting credits in Theatre include Passing at The Towne Street Theatre, Summers In Suffolk at The Towne Street Theatre, Southern Girls at the Pacific Resident Theatre Co, Flyin' West at the St. Louis Black Repertory Theatre, Life During Wartime at the Burbage Theatre, Macbeth at the Stages Theatre, No Exit at the Stellar Artists Collective, Vanities at the Stellar Artists Collective, 5th Of July, American Conservatory Theatre, Gingham Dog, American Conservatory Theatre and The River Niger at Bayview Repertory Company. She has trained with Harvey Lembeck, Brian Reise, Raf Mauro and Lee Sankowich. |
